THE TGBA 5 + 5 MODELS
Developing the Complete Student-Athlete
TGBA believes today's athlete must be developed from a 360-degree perspective.
Athletic talent may open the door, but long-term success requires development of the entire person.
The TGBA 5 + 5 Models bring together two complementary educational frameworks:
MODEL ONE
The Hilliard Solutions 360-Degree Athlete Success Model Developed by Dr. Janice Hilliard and Hilliard Solutions, the 360-Degree Athlete Success Model takes a comprehensive approach to athlete development.
The model recognizes that athletes are more than performers.
Student-athletes are developing individuals navigating athletics, education, personal development, relationships, finances, social issues, health, career decisions, and life transitions. The 360-degree approach encourages athletes and the professionals supporting them to look at the whole person—not simply athletic performance.
TGBA incorporates the principles of comprehensive athlete development into our educational approach because preparing athletes for success means preparing them for sports and life beyond sports.

THE TGBA 5 + 5 APPROACH
Athlete Development + Brand Development = The Complete
Student-Athlete
TGBA's philosophy is simple:
Develop the whole athlete.
Develop the whole brand.
Prepare the whole person.
The 360-degree athlete-development philosophy helps us examine the complete athlete.
TGBA's Five Pillars help athletes intentionally develop the brand and reputation surrounding that person.
Together, we call this educational approachch:
MODEL TWO
TGBA'S 5 PILLARS OF STUDENT-ATHLETE NIL BRANDING
Your brand is bigger than your highlights.
TGBA teaches student-athletes to develop their personal brands around five pillars:
1. CHARACTER
Who are you when people are watching—and when they aren't?
Character is the foundation of a sustainable personal brand.
It includes:
Integrity • Accountability • Leadership • Discipline • Respect • Decision-Making • Reputation
Your talent can attract attention.
Your character helps determine what happens after you receive it.
2. ACADEMICS
Your education is part of your brand.
Student-athletes should understand that coaches, universities, businesses, and potential partners
may evaluate more than athletic ability.
Academics demonstrate:
Preparation • Discipline • Time Management • Responsibility • Eligibility • Long-Term Vision
Be a student of the classroom, your sport, and life.
3. ATHLETICS
Your performance creates opportunity—but preparation sustains it.
Your athletic brand includes:
Skill Development • Work Ethic • Coachability • Basketball IQ • Fitness • Competition •
Leadership • Film • Statistics • Consistency
The goal isn't simply to get noticed.
The goal is to be prepared when the opportunity arrives.
4. COMMUNITY
Your influence should extend beyond the scoreboard.
Student-athletes have opportunities to make meaningful contributions to their schools and
communities.
Community includes:
Service • Mentorship • Leadership • Relationships • Giving Back • Civic Responsibility •
Positive Influence
A strong brand asks:
Who benefits because I was here?
5. DIGITAL
Your phone is part of your résumé.
Social media can help build your brand—or damage it.
Student-athletes should understand:
Social Media • Digital Footprint • Content Creation • Online Reputation • Brand Partnerships •
Communication • Privacy • NIL Opportunities
Before posting, ask:
Does this represent the person and brand I want coaches, colleges, employers, businesses,
and my community to see?
