Five-star forward DeMarcus Henry announced his commitment to North Carolina on Friday, marking a significant recruiting victory for first-year coach Michael Malone. Ranked as the No. 4 overall player and the top small forward in the 2027 recruiting class by 247Sports, Henry is the first to commit to UNC for the upcoming class.

DeMarcus is the son of the late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, who passed away in 2009. His older brother, Chris Henry Jr., was a five-star wide receiver prospect in the 2026 class and is currently a freshman at Ohio State.

Hailing from Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, Henry chose North Carolina over Louisville, Arkansas, and Kentucky. His decision followed an official visit to North Carolina last weekend, after having previously explored those three schools as well as UConn.
